Lose WeightBody fat – Nature versus Nurture

I find it interesting that identical twins raised apart have similar weight gain patterns and fat deposits. If one is overweight, the other is usually overweight. This pattern suggests a large share of obesity risk is tied to genetics, not just eating habits.

My gut reaction is to argue this and say it provides too easy of a cop out for overweight individuals to say “it’s just my genes”. I argue that the remaining share, determined by how a child is raised, has a significant impact on overall overweight status.

What do you think?

Research suggests the following:

  • A child with no obese parent has a 10% chance of being an obese adult.
  • A child with one obese parent has a 40% chance of being an obese adult.
  • A child with two obese parents has an 80% chance of being an obese adult.

All the best,

Where I send people for supplements

Food first, always. When a supplement is worth considering, the front of the bottle is marketing and the supplement facts panel is the actual content. Two bottles at the same price can differ by half in what they deliver.

My dispensary carries practitioner-grade products, most of which aren’t sold direct to consumers, with the reasoning behind each one.
