Lower High Blood Pressure – Sea salt versus Table Salt

Share

I frequently speak to people that have the misconception sea salt is better for your heart health than regular table salt. From a chemical and nutritional standpoint, both are sodium chloride and you want to limit your sodium intake to 2300 mg (~1 tsp of table salt) or less to promote blood pressure control.

If you use kosher salt, which has larger crystals, you benefit because less salt “fits” in one teaspoon due to the larger crystal size. A teaspoon of kosher salt provides about 1900 mg sodium. Sea salt is available in this larger crystal form, also.

    Hi Lisa
Thanks for the tip on kosher salt. Loved the video of Katelyn with her cake. I have a little 3 year old grand child Sara, who is also crazy about Cinderella, Belle, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

We visited Yellowstone the last week of August and loved the weather, bundle up and enjoy.

  2. Hi Jo,

We received an additional two days of fall weather and went right back into snow! Oh well, the more snow we get the sooner I can pull out my cross country skis. It’s not like there’s a time of year the park isn’t beautiful:)

Have fun with your “little princess” this Halloween. Katelyn is going as Snow White and Keira a bear cub.

    All the best,

    Lisa
